Backstory
I aimed to highlight the issue of plastic pollution in the oceans by creating an eerie, unnatural image of a massive plastic jellyfish. By using unnatural hues and colors, I sought to evoke an unsettling feeling, underscoring the difference between what appears obviously artificial to us but may look deceptively real to marine life.
Challenges
Creating the plastic jellyfish from scratch was challenging in both concept and execution. I adjusted hues and saturation and varied different versions of the jellyfish to avoid a repetitive look. Additionally, I warped my handwriting onto the plastic bag to present the statistic, adding a personal touch to the visual.
The Task
Create an information visualization poster addressing an unseen environmental impact, aiming to inform viewers and encourage behavioral change. The project involved personal reflection on environmental connections, research into relevant statistics, and brainstorming impactful messaging.
